Although, I was pursuing my post graduation in Sociology from Calcutta University, I was completely lost and perplexed after disqualifying in my entrance exams for Jawaharlal Nehru University. My hope of getting higher education from a Central University had come to an end.

Fortunately, one day in the month of September 2008, a propitious star shone upon me, when the Telegraph newspaper highlighted the establishment of Sikkim Central University and introduction of its initial courses. My dream of attaining higher education in a central university was rejuvenated. Further, the visions of Hon’ble Vice Chancellor motivated me to come to Sikkim University. I moved away from the hot and hectic metropolitan to the chummy, cooler climes of Sikkim and joined Sikkim University in the Department of Social Systems and Anthropology as a pilot batch student. Thus, making and marking a new hallmark in the history of the nation. My real journey of higher education began from then onwards. read more +
