I feel proud to be a part of youngest university of the country. Even being the first batch of
the department, I learned lot of things on microbiology. I had to attend all the lectures and
really work hard. Though we could not get the all the facilities in the first two semesters,
Sikkim University came up with new ideas to make up those deficiencies like arrangement
with other laboratory for practicals, opportunity to interact with scientists, the professors
and research scholars. It is really a new experience to me and I know this university will
produce excellent students in future.

Being parent, I am glad to be part of Sikkm University and this new university is doing a great job. In fact, I had never seen a
institution developing so much in a short span of time. I wish best of luck for “Sikkim University”.

Two college seniors had a week of e xams coming up. They decided to party instead.
Their biggest exam was on Wednesday and they showed up telling the professor that
their car had broken down the night before due to a very flat tire and they needed a bit
more time to study.
The professor told them that they could have another day to study. That evening, both
of the boys crammed all night until they were sure that they knew just about
everything.
Arriving to class the next morning, each boy was told to go to two separate classrooms
to take the exam. Each boy just shrugged and went to two different parts of the
building.
As each sat down, they read the first question.
"For 5 points, explain the contents of an atom."
At this point, they both thought that this was going to be a piece of cake, and answered
the question with ease. Then, the test continued.
"For 95 points, tell me which tire it was." |

On 16th November 2009, Sikkim University through
Establishment of Career Counselling Cell organized
“Career Orientation Day” for students. Sikkim
University has a very well defined vision of attaining
academic excellence and building complete individuals.
Keeping this vision in mind “Career Orientation Day”
was organized. This day was intended to mark a new
beginning in bringing professional prospective to
education at Sikkim University.
There is a massive hue and cry about unemployment today when the major factor
is lack of employability. The major challenge before us is extending this talent pool.
How can we contribute towards this initiative? How can we make our University
the epi centre of this sought after talent pool not just at a very local level but at a

In keeping with the traditions of Sikkim University of
inviting eminent personalities to give firsthand account
of current global issues to its students, on 9th
November 2009 Sikkim University organized a special
talk on US-India Relations. The talk was delivered by
Mr. Moulik D. Berkana, Assistant Public Affairs Officer
and Center’s Deputy Director at the American Center in

The Department of psychology studies was started under the School of
Social Science in Sikkim University in 2009-2010 sessions. The
department works with interdisciplinary approach and the major
objective of the department is to encourage the lending of applied psychology with
a strong foundation on conceptual and theoretical psychology.read more +
