CNN-IBN Journalist...

Sharing his personal experiences as a journalist, Mr. Karma who did his schoolings from TNA, gave some important tips to the budding journalists of Sikkim University on how to handle unpredictable situations in news anchoring that itself has undergone drastic transformation over the years. “I was anchoring a routine evening news programme; all of a sudden, my producer called me up and that there is a blast in Jaipur and I have to announce it. Nothing but a one line flash on Jaipur blast was in-front of me on the screen. I had to play with the news. You can only do that when you have travelled a lot and know have a good presence of mind. I applied my guessing skills and stretched it for around five minutes.

Highlighting how powerful the visual media can be, Mr.Karma, a Chevening scholar, showed a recorded video on disastrous mudslide in Leh that was a part of CNN IBN news programme and explained how he conducted the programme with Amir Khan to generate public sympathy and financial help from people at large.

Mr. Karma who did his post-graduation in Mass Communication from St. Xaviers, Mumbai, answered a volley of questions from the students after the speech. It was altogether an enthusiastic, informative and motivating session for the students.
