Academic Programmes

Sikkim University is in the process of establishing three distinct yet interdisciplinary academic programmes consisting of Traditional Programmes, Non-traditional Programmes and Policy Studies Programmes.

 

 
Conventional Programmes

These are mainstream courses also taught in many other Universities in India and abroad. They will have a strong emphasis on fundamental and applied research....more
Non-Conventional Programmes

These programmes are non-traditional in nature and are not generally taught as full fledged discipline in other Universities both within and outside India. These inter-disciplinary programmes will mostly involve skill oriented disciplines, professional pursuits and specialised courses which have a global perspective with regional and local contexts....more
Policy Studies Programmes

A major portion of the academic programmes will be devoted to policy research that will cater to larger issues of national interest and are directly relevant to the development and management of regional and local issues including public affairs, national security, livelihood and indigenous people, cross border interactions, disaster management and natural resources. The University is already consulting with a number of institutions both in India and abroad in developing these three programmes and identifying the potential sources of faculty recruitment....more
